As a foreigner in Mexico, you can voluntarily register at the Social Security as an independent or self-employed person so you and your legal beneficiaries* with legal residence in the national territory will be able to access social security coverage:
* In accordance with Article 84 of the Social Security Act.
Access to health service
Access to medical services, including medical consultations, medicines, hospitalization, surgeries, emergency care and specialty services, among others, for you and your beneficiaries with legal residence in the national territory and who meets the requirements of article 84 of the Social Security Act.
Occupational risk coverage
It provides you with protection in the event of illness, accident at work or incapacity for work with medical care and pension, if applicable.
Life disablement insurance Life & disablement insurance
The payment of your contributions gives you access to life & disablement insurance, complying with the requirements established in the Social Security Act.
Access to childcare insurance and social benefits
By paying your fees, you will be able to have access to childcare insurance for children in early childhood, as well as social services benefits and programs that strengthen preventive medicine and self-care.
Saving for retirement
With the payment of your contributions and complying with the requirements established in the Social Security Law, you are entitled to a pension for:
- Retirement
- Unemployment in old age
- Old age
Housing Savings (optional)
You can voluntarily contribute to access housing loans through the Institute of the National Housing Fund for Workers (INFONAVIT).
